Wow, we were all really thrown a curveball over the past couple of weeks! This is getting everyone out of their routine and shaking us up a bit.
I’m here to tell you, don’t let it get you down!
I’m a silver linings kind of person and I believe that everything happens for a reason. So how do we look at the positive and make things work for us during a time like this?
Many industries are slow right now, heck some have come to a standstill. We get it. It’s scary. But this will come to an end and we will be able to go back to living our lives normally hopefully sooner rather than later.
What will your new normal look like??
If you take the proper steps now you could come out on top. Look at this time as a blessing in disguise. This is the perfect time to start looking at your business plan. Are you still on track with your goals? Are there projects that kept getting pushed to the back burner? Now is the time to assess these things. This is a great time to plan out your marketing strategy for the future of your business.
Many businesses are so busy with their day to day responsibilities that marketing in the way of website design, product brochures and social strategies often get pushed to the side. You may know that you need a website or need to update your website but the thought of taking that on can be daunting. It can really zap your time and energy quickly.
We recommend that you sit down and list the items that you’ve been meaning to get to, then rank them in order of most important. Tackle each of these items one by one or reach out to people or businesses that might be able to help.

Do you have a web presence? If you do is it mobile friendly? These are two musts for any business in today’s world.
If you do have a website we recommend that you reevaluate your website once a year to make sure your message in on par with your business goals and vision. If you have a good website you should only have to do a major overhaul every couple of years to stay with current trends and to keep things fresh.
If you’re thinking about creating a new website or you’re ready to make a major change to your website you need to think about the purpose of your website.
- Are you looking for something informational for your clients and customers?
- Maybe event a blog?
- Do you need a customer portal?
- What about an e-commerce site?
- What will your call to action (CTA) be?
- Do you want to generate leads from your website?
You need to break things down little by little. Plan out the pages that would be beneficial to your target audience. What will get them to visit your site and how will you keep them there?
Social content is constantly changing, you need new material on a consistent basis. Do you know how you’ll achieve this?
When you’re putting together social content it’s good to look at things happening with your business that your audience will want to hear about. Like, if you have a new launch coming up. You need to create engaging material that will keep your audience wanting more. You also want your audience to feel special and that you truly care about them. Ask questions, post surveys, post relatable stories and tips to share.
Think back to what differentiates you from your competition. You have valuable information that your audience wants to hear about! Share it!
One tool that is very important for your social content strategy is a good scheduling app. You can’t post every post as you think of them. Well, you could but it’s going to drain your time even more. Don’t get us wrong, you still need to engage and be present but it’s good to have something scheduled out.
The app that we’re loving right now is Tailwind, because it allows us to post to Pinterest and Instagram easily. However, there are many other great apps out there that we’ve also used and use concurrently like Hootsuite, Later, and Planoly. Find one that works for you. Everyone’s needs are different and each app works slightly differently.
